Hi all,

i'm now looking to replace my front brake pads in the next few weeks and hoping to get some recommendations on which pads to use.

I've just had a quick look on ebay and found these

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Front-Disc-Brake-Pads-CBR600-F6-CBR-600-CB-CB600-HORNET-/270401280908?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3ef52c1b8c

I'm not after anything special just something reliable.
Any got and experience with Gold fren? Good or bad?

thanks for the help,
Shaun.

I think I have used either that brand or something very similar and I had no problems.

I would personally pay the extra £20 and go for these:

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EBC-FA226HH-FRONT-BRAKE-PADS-HONDA-CB-600-HORNET-98-08-/270525043622?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item3efc8c93a6

I bought a set of full set of EBC sintered HH pads for my Fazer. They were nothing short of fantastic. I really would highly recommend them and if changing pads on any other bike I would go straight for the EBC's every time.

They just had such a good response. I use two finger braking and the bike would stop so quickly. Having said that though, I had just rebuild the calipers and they were the blue spots off the R1 which helped Very Happy.

In my eyes your brakes can never be too good Thumbs Up

I have never used that brand before though so can't comment specifically on them. Sorry!

Watch out for fake GoldFren pads lots about.

FWIW i reccomend Carbone Lorraine A3+ sintered pads for the front, any old thing on the back will do the job.

Yeah, I only had a quick look! I'm sure you will find them cheaper somewhere, just make sure they have the HH at the end or else they aren't sintered.

Personally (Brake pads are a very personal thing) I'd avoid EBC like the plague. Their HH's eat disks, and I've heard a few horror stories of friction material coming away from backing plates (Although this was about 5 years ago now). For those two reasons I'd never use them.

Had OE in my old Hornet road bike with no real issues, although had braided lines on that bike too. Personally I love SBS pads, but that's only because I used them in my track bike and they were fantastic. Pricey, but well worth it.

Just noticed you have the 2002 bike that gets a decent pad compound as standard. Personally I'd chuck another load of OE in if it was me.

(The 98-99 bikes had a different, less bitey pad compound. Widely considered to be worse than that fitted to the 2000 onwards bikes.)

For the front I use sintered pads, for the rear I use standard pads.

I have used Gold fren sintered on the front of the bandit and and found then good. Thumbs Up

I've got GoldFren sintered all round and they're good. Used them on my trackbike before and they're good on track too.

I bought mine from Busters Accessories' ebay store to hopefully get genuine ones. I think their username is busters-2009.

from just a quick look online the oem ones are twice the price of the gold fren.

I think i'll give the gold fren's a try, at worst all i'll lose is £20.

thanks for all the replies,
Shaun.
