Was just trying to fit some fog lights to the bike.
I bought a wiring loom from ebay that has everything I need, switch, fuse, relay.
Got the fog lights from halfords.
Should be simple, fit cable to + and one to - on the battery, connect cable to lights + so it only works when ignition is on. then connect the lights to the last two connections. Easy.

the lights work when they go straight to the battery
the power comes on when the ignition is on
the power goes through the switch
The fog lights don't come on when all is connected. ?????

The power for the switch is taken from the main beem ( not the full beem) so it is ready for action when the ignition is on but dead when the ignition is off. This works as i have checke power come through when ignition is on but not when it is off.

Having a think about it it may be the relay. But I don't know how to test it or what relay to ask for to replace it.

First if your using scotch blocks ditch them as they are used by bodgers and are useless pieces of crap! Solder the joints or at a push use screw terminal blocks. I have fixed so many problems caused by scotch block connectors. They will fail sooner or later.

You have main beam, dip beam and sidelight. Use the sidelight as that is on all the time the other lights are on. Also means the fogs can be turned on without the dipped headlight being on.

Go straight to ground from the fogs not back to the relay then ground as they will be dropping current there.

I pressume scotch block is the little handy thing that clips onto the wire insted of soldering. Embarassed too late.

From the diagram that came with the loom it has the wire going back to the relay that then goes back to the neg on the battery. Is it wrong?

The lights work if I have them straight to the battery, but obviously I want to turn them off and on. But i only want them on when the ignition is on hence the relay. There is power from the switch when I turn it on. Power going to the light, but none coming from it? Is that right?

I thought this was going to be easy with a bolt on loom, but it is a right pain.

A quick google brings up diffrent wiring on the relay by No's
30 = feed to lights
87 = + feed from battery
85 = -/ earth
86 = signal from head/sidelight.

Try changing the wiring to the relay, seems diffrent brands can use diffrent pinouts.

I would check the connections that you have made to the relay. It is very easy to mix them up and achieve similar results to the ones that you are experiencing.

Are you 100% sure you have the correct poles connected on the relay?

You will get less drop if you go straight to the frame with one of these . .

Wired the Earth to the positive. Well it was a simple easy to do mistake that anyone can learn from.

White cable on the lights is earth, White cable on the loom is Live. Silly me put white to white. How stupid am I?

On the upside it was a 20 second fix and the lights work fine.
