T reg ZX6R gear selction problems - updated!

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice ... ...
I uncovered my bike last weekend after about a months non use (due to snow and ice).
I have a problem with the gear selector.
The actual selector seems to move up and down as normal but I can only get 1st and Neutral.
Any time I try to move up a gear the neutral light goes out briefly (as if it had gone up a gear) but comes right back on with the bike never getting higher up the gear box than Neutral.

Any advice welcome.

hi mate the common fault on the zx6r is the leaver sticks at the peg
disconect linkage from the engine 1 10mm bolt then loads of wd40 on the pivot at the peg and work up and down lots untill it moves really free then refit
i have bought lots of zx6rs with gear box faults and every time its been this Thumbs Up

Nice one!
I've been dousing it in Wd40 and working it up and down (nothing disconected). Nice to know my random guess wasnt too far off, I'll get right on that.

Hi all,
diconnected everything as suggested. It was all moving quite freely but covered in WD40 and worked it in.

Unforetunately the problem remains Sad

Any other thoughts?

All help appreciated!

Has the bike been dropped on that side at all? Also, if you roll the bike forward a little does it go through the gears?

Bike has never been dropped (as far I know).

The gears don't engage on a roll (except first).

I'm baffled!

Tried riding it?might even be the clutch has dried out a bit and needs some oil moving about

Just came back from a spin on it and its all good.

Took linkage apart again- gave it a good clean and WD40'd it to an inch of it's life before putting it back on.
