Hi Everyone, I’m a total noob here so this is my first post.

Back last July I went through the CBT and got myself a 2003 Honda XR125 and since then its been fantastic, every morning it starts fine runs fine and I have had no problems.

Until this morning, the bike started fine and I got about 2 miles from home and suddenly the revs started dropping (I turned the throttle but nothing the revs just died) the bike then cut out.

at first I couldn’t even get it started back up but now I can start it with the choke fully down (off?) and it will idle (very sluggish low idle speed) and literally if I put my hand on the throttle and move it even a millimeter it just cuts out. If I put the choke fully up (full on?)
I can start it and rev it but it sounds awful and will rev about half as high as normal then just stop an make a low sound rev (like accelerating in top gear at 20mph) then when I let go it just comes down and dies.

I needed to get to work so I manages to clutch and throttle it home with the choke on fully (as soon as I rev it while moving the whole bike judders and bogs down and looses power) and now its sitting in my garage.

Now I’m new to bikes so I have no idea where to start here and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In that case, it may well be just some crap that was in your tank has got into the fuel line / carb.

Ok how would I go about cleaning it out? Is it a case or just trying to rev it through or do I need to take some things apart?

It might pass though by itself, or it may need the carb removed, if the blockage is in a jet.

Depends on how accessible the carb is Wink

Try starting it again first. Thumbs Up

It would aslo be wise to give the petrol tank a clean, get all the crap out of it. Thumbs Up

Trust me its crap in the carb, I know a bloke with 04 CG which has the same engine and he had the exact same problem as you when he went into reserve.

Buy some spray crab cleaner, spay every hole you can see in the carb. That should sort you out mate, keep us updated!

Nope, just take the airbox off and spray all the holes you can find on the crab. Use loads of spray! It's very simple mate! You should be fine!

Remember you got 8 years worth of crap at the bottom of you're fuel tank! I'v owned my bike for nearly 2 years and haven't been in my reserve once.

If I was you I would avoid using reserve if you can!

Ok I just got home and tried to just get the bike to start again (wasn't able to pick up any carb cleaner every wares closed) now, I tried turning the bike over and this time after a few tries the bike instead of making the startup sound makes a fast clicking sound (doesn't sound like its trying to turn over) and the horn was extremely quiet then I tried a few more times and now the clicking is slower and the horn doesn't sound at all, so im thinking dead battery could this be a cause of the other symptoms as well? or is it more likely just bad timing and the battery is dead and there crap in the carb

Your battery is flat.

You still need to sort out the fueling problem aswell
