Hi Guys,

My bike is coming up to 16000 miles, and I am aware that they need a major service every 8000...

What is actually required?

I was thinking: Oil/Filter Change, 4 new plugs, lube/adjust chain, valve clearances, carb balance, check pads front/rear for wear?

Its not rattly or anything like that so im assuming the CCT would be fine, is there anything I've missed or would that cover what I need?

Many thanks,

Perry

Also consider things like stripping and re-greasing shock linkage and swingarm pivot and stripping and cleaning the brake calipers whilst you are changing the fluid anyway.

Depends how long since the last time this stuff was done, it's not ALL about the number of mile covered Wink .

Lube cables, and do a Bearing check.

Bleed, clean, grease brakes.

Maybe change your fork oil too this can easily be done with a syringe.

Also consider coolant change and fork oil change. I'd be doing this every couple of years at a minimum. I reckon that's more time than mileage dependant though.

Do you have a Haynes manual for it? They have a list in there.

If you don't, then I have one so could look it up (I'd go get it now, but just had my tea and being lazy! Very Happy).

Price wise, I've been quoted £250 and £275 so far for the above jobs... reasonable?

As long as they dont find any faults, seems a good deal.

In terms of oil change, filters, coolant, brakes.. all those are easy DIY ones.
Valves and fork oil... you might want them to do that if you arent too handy with a spanner, but its alot easier than what your mind is telling you Wink

But if you would like them to do it all for you, thats a fair price.

Changing the fork oil is easier than bleeding brakes IMO, for a start it can easily be done by 1 person. Thumbs Up

Edit:- including parts £250-£275 is a fair price IMO.
