https://www.motormatchuk.co.uk

A woman I know at work is trying to sell her car (forget what it is now) and has advertised it everywhere, she was then contacted by this company over the phone. They told her that they had 6 people interested in her car and for £80 they would put them in touch with her and also guaranteed to have the car sold within a week.

She paid the £80 but 2 weeks later no one had contacted her about the car apart from someone from abroad trying to get her to cash a cheque of £13000 which she wasn't even asking for the car. He said that the cheque was from a friend who owed him money from a previous transaction, he wanted her to cash it use what was left to ship the car to him and then send him back the difference. She wisely refused this offer and called motor match up to find out where these people were that were interested in the car.

They have now claimed to have 16 people interested in the car, she has been to the web site and her car isn't even advertised on there and the contact address that was given to her doesn't exist.

The whole point of this thread is to find out if anyone has heard of or had any dealings with motor match before and also to warn others of this company.

Yes I have been harrased by these little basturds before.

They got my phone number off loot when I was trying to sell the RS125 on there.

Their selling line went along the lines of 'we have buyers interested in buying your bike, all we ask is £80 for this service'

Most of the people who ring speak with foreign accents and ring at crazy times in the day (10pm at night etc).

I even found them very forceful down the phone, when I said I wasn't interested the one shouted abuse down the phone!

If any of you get calls off this company, ask them politely to remove your phone number from their database, otherwise you get about 2 calls a week off them for the next 2 sodding months or something silly!

Hi

The one with the cheque is a well known scam. You cash the cheque and send the car and the money to the other party. Some time later (weeks or even months) the bank realise the cheque is stolen or forged so take the money back off you. By that time you have lost the car (not that they were really interested in that) but also sent them a nice legitimate cheque for the difference.

The sales agents are a well known pain. £80 is several hundred pounds more than they are worth.

All the best

Keith

Is that Terri you are on about? It's the Rover she is selling. Hope she gets it sorted soon, the last thing she needs more hassle with that car.
