Can anyone please tell me if the calculations below look correct or if there should be anything done differently at all?

I'd imagine its very similar to my 7r so feel free to post here if you get stuck Thumbs Up

As long as you have it at TDC and can see the cam sprocket alignment marks (or did similar to me and marked the cam chain and each sprocket with tip ex) it will be pretty straight forward Cool

I must be bored ... but I made a little spreadsheet to calc it all for you ... well check your numbers for you now!! Very Happy

As you know, you can only get shims of 0.05, so it takes that into account. I have also gone for the LARGEST gap without going 'bust' (means longest between shimming intervals) but you could change the value to a 'middling' one if you wanted to see if it saved you a few shims ...

Oh and if you want to make the spreadsheet yourself then you need the following formulas:-

Cell C3 = "Ex"
Cell C4 = "0.31" {or desired Ex gap}
Cell D4 = "0.24" {or desired In gap}

Cell F7 "=IF(C7=$C$3,E7-($C$4-D7),E7-($D$4-D7))"
Cell G7 "=ROUND(F7/0.05,0)*0.05"
Cell H7 "=E7-G7+D7"
Cell I7 "=IF(C7=$C$3,IF(H7<=$C$4,"Fine","Too Big"),IF(H7<=$D$4,"Fine","Too Big"))"
Cell J7 "=IF(I7="Fine",G7,G7+0.05)"
Cell K7 "=E7-J7+D7"
Cell L7 "=IF(C7=$C$3,IF(K7<=$C$4,"Fine","Too Big"),IF(K7<=$D$4,"Fine","Too Big"))"

Copy all them down to row 22, enter your data into cols ... B, C, D & E ... and job done!! Smile

... oh and if you are feeling ghey, you can 'conditional format' the "Fine" and "Too Big" to colour code them like I did!! Embarassed

Bit odd to define the valve gaps in c4 and d4 but not use then in the formula at column I?

Take a look at Petes calc.

Cheers - am not too worried -only thing i think might be grief is getting the chain lined up correctly. I made marks but still see it giving me bother!

Anyways shims ordered now so got a few nights to spend time doing a load of cleaning, overhauling/painting the calipers and other odds and sods until i get the bolt back together stage - very therapeutic and a good reason to do the clerances yourself as some monkey in a bike shop wouldnt lavish such attention to it!

Smile

That was an oversight, I had correctly refereed to the cells in the required shim calc in F7 so it was generic, but not int the 'check' - my bad. Embarassed

In my defence, I had actually 'named' the cells in my version so it was foolproof - they were referred to as "InGap" and "ExGap" in my sheets formulas - however, thought cell naming was getting too complicated to explain in my post here, so converted my formulas to what you saw and made the non-generic mistake buy putting in the values not cell ref in the check at that point! Doh!

I also just noticed that I didn't give the final check formula in L7 Razz.

But never fear, both have been rectified in the original post now Thumbs Up
