It looks nice... but by christ if you owned one (if/when they bring out a road going version) and you needed to change/upgrade/fix something on the steering it will cost you an arm and a leg to get it sorted!!

lmao

It certainly is a break from the norm with the hub steering, apparently on paper they perform better then conventional forks.

Looks cool Cool , but that kind of radical stuff never seems to work.
Elf Honda tried a few different things in the 500 era but that failed.

The original design had handles that you pull to steer but that never made it to the race track.

Hi

Looks like the Bimota Tesi system still.

Problem seemed to be that it was incredibly easy to change just about every bit of suspension setup, so very easy to really screw things up. Added to which when new all the rose joints had a load of stiction (screwing up the handling) and then wore out (screwing up the handling) with a limited time in the middle where it all worked.

Hub centre steering does have advantages over forks, but forks have had about 3/4 of a century of development money thrown at them by various big companies and that is a hell of a head start to make up for. Especially when you land up having to use tyres that were designed for normal forked bikes and riders who have grown up with forks.

Next to no dive on the brakes (can dial a bit in) so the front suspension still works when braking hard and allows the rider to brake later while cornering. Trouble is that people have got used to suspension diving on the brakes which makes the steering angle steeper and so easier to tip in.

Also with the Tesi and Elf systems there are limits to cornering clearance with the front swinging arm needing to be wide enough to allow the front wheel to steer.

Without the front spring / damper having to take the braking force you can remove most of the stiction in the front suspension.

All the best

Keith

There is no doubt in my mind that the hub centre steering is a better system. However it's going to take a lot of time and money to get it working well. If they have issues with the steering they will try to compensate in other areas and handling tweeks will become a complicated mess. I think no major manufacturers have adopted it as none of the others have, that and they don't need it as a unique selling point. No doubt if the Vyrus does well you'll see half the grid with a similar system next year, but i doubt thats going to happen Razz

Yamaha have tried it, but on a heavy bike. Still did OK at the TT when heavily stripped down.

All the best

Just another jizzmobile that will end up collecting dust in a C list celeb's basement garage. I bet Chris Evans will buy two.

This!

It looks nice. Not a fan of the steering rig at the front but thats because its not the traditional fork set up I'm used to seeing. If someone bought me one I wouldnt say no. But I'd probably sell it and buy a few different bikes Very Happy

And, lest we forget, Malcolm Newall's Quasar/Phasar project, later versions of which featured a variation on the Difazio concept (although I accept, not a major).

Funnily enough there was a lovely GTS1000 on Ebay a couple of weeks ago; must be one of the last around, I thought they only sold about 3 Laughing

Hi

Bought it to have a look at the info on the fuel injection system fitted. Sods law the first one I bought was volume 1 that didn't cover the fuel injection, so landed up buying a set of volumes 1 & 2.

All the best

Keith

Ugly as hell and nothing very new about it. MCN have been saying shit like this is 'the way ahead' for 30 years. But bikes won't change much, they never do.

hub steering is a brilliant tech but needs more time to develope its like hubless wheels Smile haveing almost no weight to them but still need more developement to be safe really
and that idea or a moveing seat suzuki had years back it was a good idea the reports i can find say it made hanging off far less challenging but it didnt catch on people are scared of major change
