Dunno for sure but I think that the mileage will be stored in the ECU. I think that the clocks are nothing more than display units.

Well if you change the ECU then, you re-set the mileage? Don't think so?

On cars, some are stored on the clocks, some on the ECU. Most newer ones are on the ECU.

I would think bikes are similar, but I would have thought more on the clocks.

If you look at clocks on Ebay, they often say what they are reading.

I was of the impression it is in the clocks, could depend on the bike but with my bike at least if you change the clocks you get a new reading. My old man had a faulty speedo on his van, when replaced that reset the mileage too.

It should be stored on both.. Both parts might need replacing...

Quick search on various forums and the general consensus seems to be the instruments/cluster/clocks.

Ah, got you now sorry.

Yes, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Clocks are easy to switch, and thus switch a bike's mileage.

ECUs are harder, but can be done. As long as you give the bloody dealerships enough money.

Hi

Suspect the display mileage is in the clocks, but suspect on a lot of cars it is also stored in the ecu (and quite possibly elsewhere).

All best
