Ok, as many of you know, I work in a bike shop. Yesterday, a bloke walks in and asks for a set of 4 spark plugs for his Hayabusa, which we sold to him 6 months ago, but he wants something a bit more sporty. He also passed his full test with us as well.

Anywho, he comes into the shop, gets the spark plugs and begins to tell us how he's doing a plug and oil change ready for the new owner, cos he's sold the bike on Ebay, and the bloke was coming from Kent to fetch it.

We get a phonecall today at 10am. He's effing and blinding down the phone at my boss, 'How much is a new fucking top fairing for my Hayabusa, and a new clutch lever and mirror, and a new crankcase cover'

We were a little bewildered by this, as he hasn't ridden the bike in winter, so we wondered how he caused this stupid amount of damage wheeling it around. The story continues.

Aparently, the bloke who was supposed to be coming up from Kent couldn't make it. So he sent his missus. To fetch a bike. Bad move. She arrives, 'Do you want to test ride it before you take it?' 'I don't ride bikes, I'm only here to fetch it' 'Oh right, erm, so you trust me then?' 'Well I dunno, buy my husband just told me to fetch it' anyways, he asks her how she's planning to get it home, and she points to a van. This is no ordinary van, this is a mercedes van, and she's got a plank of wood to act as a ramp. And it's been raining. She asks him to help her load it up, so he says sure no probs. He walks at the side of the bike, engine running, slowly using the clutch to get it up this ramp. She thinks he's going to drop it, reaches out in haste, grabs the throttle, back wheel spins, bike not only skids off the ramp, but falls the 3 feet to the ground and smashes to fuck.

He looked at her gobsmacked. Then she said she didn't want it. And there's nothing he can do because he hadn't got the cash, and she hadn't become the new owner of the bike, his plan was to load it up first then sort out the paperwork. Nice.

Moral of the story, get the cash before you load a bike up for someone, and stress that you aren't happy helping them in case something gets damaged, and if it does you won't be help responsible. We priced up all the parts today, comes to £600 odd for original parts, we are looking at about £250ish for parts from a breakers.

Sent his missus? I wouldn't buy a bike without giving it a looking over and (maybe) a bit of a runaround. He (the buyer)'s a prat, she's a prat, and the seller shouldn't have put up with it Laughing .

Hi

Thought an Ebay winning bid was a legally binding contract. Therefore the Busa IS sold, and the damage IS the buyers problem.

All the best
