The ad says "You can tell it’s Dell."

That is advertising speak for: 'You will be on a premium support line for hours within a week!' or 'you will gradually accumulate a small collection of plastic parts which you will intend..(but never get round to) glue back on to the casing before you finally drop it and claim for a new one on your insurance'

As a general rule, Dell Desktops are fine their Laptops initially work fine but the build quality is poor. [IMHO]

Supposed to be a mediocre Netbook and an even worse Tablet, which is a shame, I liked it.

My dell netbook has been faultless, I'm sure there have some horror stories but from my point of view it has been brilliant.

Myself, the other half and my old man all have laptops/notebooks and they have been totally faultless for years. I would recommend buying one to anyone that asked.

Just my opinion! I used to work for a company that had a contract with Dell. The desktops worked fine and were dead reliable, the laptops that were issued to the field force, fell apart (the plastic casing and mechanical components rather than the electronics) switched to HP and the reliability shot up. However, all machines have a price point and to be fair the HP's were about £50 more than the Dells.

At home we have a Dell desktop (all fine) and a Dell laptop (working but held together with gaffer tape as all the plastic tags holding the screen assembly together have broken.

However, I am not a current 'Dell Boy' as I have gone Mac and it just works and doesn't fall apart.

So, that about sums up my experience, but I might just be in the other end of the stats that compensates for your positive experience. As I said the kit isn't bad stuff! Very Happy

Tbh the most interesting bit of nerdy tech I've seen lately is Acer's Iconia
