Hi all,
I'm in the process of removing the throttle stop from my bike, but the screw that holds the throttle stop to the throttle bodies is tight as a ducks arse, and started to round quite badly.

I have used a hacksaw blade to cut a notch in the screw head so I can try a flathead screwdriver but no joy with that, or any of about 10 different size and types of phillips. I'm a bit clueless as to what will remove the screw.

In the morning I will put a bit of heat around the screw with a normal hairdryer and see if that loosens her up, and failing that I will use a thin driller to cut a tiny hole into the centre of the screwhead so I can jam a screwdriver in there nice and deep.

If that doesn't work then I'm fresh out of ideas, so if anybody has any advice/ ideas on how to get this bitch undone then please let me know!!

Try tightening up very very slightly, just enough to crack the seal that has formed.

If it moves, then you should be able to remove the screw.

Thanks cansa, I tried that but the screw just seemed to start rounding the other way. It's as if the screw is made of plasticine and its welded into the whole.

It shouldnt round off if you are using the correct screwdriver.

I know it sounds weird, but try welding a 1p coin onto the rounded head. Once that's done, grab a teacloth and cover it as if you were opening a tough jar in the kitchen.

Works wonders.

Screw undone and throttle stop plate removed.

I hate to leave these threads like cliffhangers cos it doesn't help anybody in future, so for anybody who reads this thread in future;
I used a thin small drill bit to drill down into the screw head. It was slightly bigger than I should have used but managed to dig down into the head enough for me to get a very good quality phillips screwdriver into the screw, but was just starting to round the crosshead off as well.

So I hammered the screwdriver into the head, and gave her a very hard push and twist and hey presto she began to undo.

Will disguard the old farked screw and replace with a new one.

Cheers for all the help.
