Would love to see them live in a 1000-5000 capacity venue. Never gonna happen now though.

Minimal synth... no longer have ears for anything else but I used to listen to everything else but this... Tin ears from too much engine noise perhaps. Laughing Or just a different energy.

Old school:
Deux, Autumn, HSTA, DAF, Martin Dupont, Absolute Body Control, Deux, Oppenheimer Analysis, etc.

New school (including a lot of coldwave stuff):
Echo West, Le Syndicat Electronique (although he would describe his stuff as electro/bodywave, not all of it is that IMO), Linear Movement, Stockhausen, Void Vision, etc.

Hehehe... typing all this out, and only just realised it's punk reworked. No matter, it's awesome beyond belief.

Agreed, and Blancmange reminds me of Aswad going pop in the 80s. Aswad had the minor key ("serious") roots stuff down pat before they watered down the formula. Blancmange were serious with their electronica and Indian modal music but when they made a choice to make a product they did it exceptionally well.

Sounds good to me. Those 70s genres obviously complete all rock and pop structures we'll ever hear until the end of time, but I love simplicity and purity - the same quality you get from honest ambient and space ambient. Minimal synth provides this - the naivete element but with clear structure that sort of pimps out the sublime microtonal variances of analog synths and unquantized notes. Simple but perfect insofar as it's unpolished, not a diamond in the rough but a sweet crystal in the rough if you know what I mean... Detuned synth lines crossing over each over with subtle saturations and bleeds and all that...

This one sums it up for me:

Jarvis Cocker, wtf
"Must I evolve"

Shite lyrics, but fab beat.
Very "Philip Glass/Einstein on the Beach" with all that "yes yes yes" shizzle.
