I did them a disservice by calling them muzak. It's music that doesn't always command my attention but rewards when I do.

Cradle Of Filth - Midian (Album)

Bit of a mid-to-late-teens throwback.

Brilliant! I think I met her after the COF gig in Cambridge in '06 (Thornography tour I think it was). How did the connection come about?

I'm always a bit wrong-footed by the link between Ozrics and Hole (!!). Strange - and I imagine, often strained - "rock family tree" moment, that. Btw Hole never did anything for me at all.

There's no "This is Awesome" karma rating, but imagine it just so!

In light of this, this morning I'm skipping ahead to 2004's Nymphetamine. I think, my favourite album.

All kinds in the mix lately:

Stuff like Alvin Youngblood Hart, John Hammond, Ben Andrews etc for some acoustic blues.

Hendrix, The Doors, Creedence Clearwater, Cream, Stones etc for the classic rock sound. And just discovered the Canadian band The Tea Party - rock with nods to Led Zep and The Doors, with a distinctly eastern influence, something I've always enjoyed in rock music:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDYIlaaw_yI

Steve Earle of course.
And more bluegrass from Doc Watson and The Tony Rice Unit.

Tony McManus, Al Petteway for some mellow celtic acoustic guitar.

Tracer, the Answer, Black Country Communion (including their new one - four albums in and nothing I've heard from them I don't like) for something a bit more rocked up.

Ry Cooder, JJ Cale, Black Sun Ensemble, Ali Farka Toure, Pierre Vangelis, Phil Keaggy etc for something a bit more eclectic.

Good dose of blues rock, including Aaron Keylock, Aynsley Lister, The Hoax, Devon Allman, Simon McBride, Union, Mike Zito plus of course the old faves of Rory Gallagher, Stevie Ray etc.

Classic blues from Elmore James, Little Walter, Bobby Bland, and white boy blues from Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Ronnie Earl &c.

Rock 'n' roll from Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran...

Debut EP from Greta Van Fleet, classic rock style with stripped down, proper guitar riffing.

All mixed up and on all day.

'Doris..Go on into that bathroom and wash out that pussy'

Just one line from a torrid amount of filth all backed by the baddest bestest riddums by reggae's greats.

And the girls are certainly forthright in their wish to have a man with a hard dick, again with some of the best beats and playing you could wish for.

A bit of Porcupine Tree to sooth the soul this morning at work, while last night's brownies wear off.

See ... with this fella, unfortunately contrary-Jen had kicked in. I agree that he has a really good voice and I'd quite like to download the album ... but ... he's too much of a popular "thing" amongst my rocker/biker friends, so I'll maybe listen secretly to his album and pretend not to like him for just a bit longer, and will stick to the more poppy Ed Sheeran for my hipster-babe-man porn.

Plus ... wrong kinda beard.
Puke

Edit: Okay I've revised my opinion. The older stuff is really good, not all that impressed with the "Human" album so far, bu only half way thru, I am sick to the back teeth of the two main songs that have been played to death, but I am proper grooving on "Right from Wrong" and "St James". Utterly utterly the best kind of music. Cool

I somehow managed to put my car radio on the DAB channels the other day, and I found a station called "Chill" which is Totally Jen. So I have found the relevant website to listen to it on my PC as well as when I am in my car.

Cool

Through the magic of the internets I came across the Art of Noise's Seduction of Claude Debussy album. I always like AON in the 80s and listen to their albums to this day, but somehow managed to miss this one from the late 90s.

It's probably the best synth-electronica fused with classical, opera, drum'n'bass, jazz and rap homage to Debussy with a nod to 19th century French poet Charles Baudelaire and voiced over by John Hurt that I've yet heard.

The various incarnations of this (in true ZTT fashion there are multiple variants, outakes and remixes available) have been a major feature of my rotation for the last few weeks.

My mates band cover Human in a rocked up faster version and that's what prompted the purchase. Also whole album is
a good tempo for mrs grrs hobby, and she's always looking for new tracks to dance to. Her next (ticket only) performance
on 11th Nov is to this....

System

As you'd imagine, she's away training as I type this and has been on a diet for weeks. Laughing 100 people in audience
and she wants to look fab. She will. Wub

I secretly wish for Darren Emerson to join with Rick Smith and leave Hyde out of it for an album or 2.

It's not a bad LP by any stretch but just needs that bit of thump-thump attitude that D.E can add.
