I thought I'd give this a quick listen as I do love a bit of classical music, even though I mostly listen to metal.

It took me a whole 15 minutes to click off and reply to this thread, it's stunning!

Now I'm gonna go back and listen to the whole thing.

Thanks for this Thumbs Up

I like Rim-skin's Cork-is-off nothing like over-doing-it when your writing massive classical music.

I like this piece by the Scottish composer and philanthropist Jock Tchaikovsky.

First played at Wembley against the English. 🤣

Peter Frampton.

Looks like he's using some sort of weird voice/guitar wah-wah combo.

That was definitely a thing with him, back in the 70s.
At the time it was considered very cool.

Frampton was a nobody until he made one of the earliest live albums 'Frampton comes alive' which spread in a sort of pre internet viral way. Apparently if you lived in suburbia in the US in a period from the late 70s you were practically issued it (as paraphrased from Waynes World 2).

It was a culturally significant record, as it did catch the energy of a live performance that was never really had before on vinyl. I don't really know his music, but I know of his legacy for that reason.

I have to disagree with you there about him being a nobody. Peter Frampton was in one of the best bands ever to come out of this country before he went solo - Humble Pie featuring my favourite singer of all time, Steve Marriott.

Try this for example...

I like Humble Pie, but they are not as high profile as many other bands, and as a solo artist he wasn't expected to do very well...

I should have said he was basically a nobody... Wink

Interesting times when you've mined all the music of your own generation and those who came after, and then you start to explore what came before. I'm the eldest of three children, so I wasn't influenced by the tastes of older siblings. I think I might have heard Peter Frampton and contemporaries on the radio in their heyday, but the music only registered in terms of its influence on whoever came next. Now I can appreciate the original music for what it is.

Steven Wilson is a legend. Anything he touches is decent, especially the general sound production.

When I found out he helped produce some Pendulum albums, it made sense as they sound so well produced.

It's called a voice box. It's basically a small amp and speaker, the output of which is directed up a plastic tube that runs up the mic stand and projects beyond the mic. The guitarist puts his mouth around the tube and shapes the sound which is then picked up by the mic.

I had one. It gave me a sore throat. Laughing

I've always had a soft spot for Heart - "Barracuda" (1977)

Obviously the video dates terribly but there's something about this track I can't quite put my finger one... almost like it was a hint of proto speed metal.
