A few that I rang to get a price said "there not leather are they ?"
So I assume it causes problems with the leather being so thick, so might affect the price.
Jamie.

I have a lovely (and expensive) set of Dainese.
The zips from the start on them were diabolical.

Eventually the one connected the trousers to the jacket went.
Sent to to a local place (will find the number) who does all the racers ones.
Came back with a proper strong zip ... cant see where he changed it (looks like it was fitted at factory) ... and its lasted 3 years at least.
Cost about £80 (might have been £40?) god knows !

edit: This is the place: https://www.ninelivesleathers.co.uk/index.htm

I highly recommend him ... when I picked them up there were some proper racer types all picking up alterations and lettering etc.
My zip not only runs super smooth, but it is also still in place 3 or 4 years later.
The original one started coming apart at the front after 4 months... and never ran smoothly.

The larger bike rallies usually have a stall for repairs but I don't know if you go to rallies or how much they charge.

Maybe treat yourself to new leathers.

New leathers because the original weak zip has gone Shocked
Its ok for those with money to burn huh Smile

Take it to a proper leather repair place (like Nine Lives) and they will do it for under £80 ... and probably £40 .... my memory isnt what it used to be.

Money? What's that?

£80 for a zip replacing? You can buy a jacket for less than that.

Laughing If £80 ish is right, that's obscene. I'd rather buy a new jacket/trousers for a little bit more and not have the Alpinetarts logo (or whatever it is). Smile
