No they aren't.
Had a batch of them at the training school a while back; cheif instructor vowed NEVER to get any more, and HID every time he saw the (overworked!) Mechanic, waving something rusty!
Cheap 125's are often a falce ecconomy. See this:- 125's - Live Hard
Old addage is buy cheap, buy twice. And when it comes to 125's that far too often true.
In the long run, paying more for a better bike to begin with can work out a WHOLE load cheaper and easier.
Cheap learner bikes are often not the most confidence inspiring, and frequently unreliable. This does not give you the 'best' start for a long and enjoable biking career.
Then money and time spent trying to sort out faults, or lost reselling or scrapping a non runner or MOT fail, can prove expensive.
Pay the extra, buy a better bike to begin with, you have better chance of having a bike thats a damn site safer, more reliable, more comfortable, something you are less embaressed to be seen on, that does the job you want, doesn't cost you much money or cause you any grief.
Then, when you have quickly got your test out the way on it, can be sold on pretty much for what you paid for it, costing you a damn site less for the overall happier experience. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

And irrespective of the quality issues, it's got a front drum brake. Really, there's no need for that.
If it's a perfect runner then it might be worthwhile offering £300 and treating it as disposable. Don't spend anything on it - you'll never get that money back. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Hey, it was the Americans that put a man on the moon... the wrong one... and they brought him home again..... but they're americans.... what do you expect!
Chinese?
Now they built an Intercontinental Balistic Missile out of scrap dustbin lids and bits of string, and an anti-satalite missile made from old Sprite cans melted down in a charcoal forge!
So I reckon that the Drum brake on that thing isn't so much because the CG125 they copied had one, as a 'marketing feature' pandering to us capitolist western 'consumers'.
If it was up to the Chinkies it would have been fitted with bicycle type stirrup brakes.....
I mean, its Chinese.
If they can shoot down the American Star-Wars project with something based on a Lion-Brand Air-Rifle, then just think how great a drum brake they must be able to make!
(Actually, do you remember a couple of years ago when the Yanks & Chinks were having a willy waving competition and shooting old weather satalites out of orbit? The missile the Yanks used was one I actually had the displeasure of working on. On the guidance system, of all things! I REALLY can understand why they were a 'bit' worried about having to 'prove' thier capability! And proved EVERYTHING the Russians used to say about Western 'ordinance', which was that they (the Russians) got unlimited funds and resorses to design and build the 'best' military equipment they could, with whatever technology it took, while under the capitolist system, the Yanks got the least amount of funding to build the cheapest thing that would do the job! THAT particular anti-satalite missile, actually started out as an intermediate, long range, heavy deployement missile.... one down from a full ICBM, fired from a ship, and supposed to carry a heavy nuclear war-head. Left over from 'de-commissioning' after the cold war, some-one decided that RATHER than design a 'New' missile to face the threat of low orbit ordinance.... 'do something to use up all these old rockets'
The 'camel' a horse designed by committee... picture the scene, we have a fuck off big rocket, intended to carry a ten ton pay-load thousands of miles and deliver it with an accuracy..... well, with a ton of plutonium up its nose? Yeah, anything within a hundred mile radius will do! Yanks. Fuck how good it is, as long as there's a REALLY big bang at the end! And we had to redesign it to try and shoot down something the size of a foot-ball.... travelling at around about the speed of sound..... apparently we got the contract because we'd built a VERY high accuracy short-Range anti-Aircraft missile..... which the Yanks DIDN'T want, because it was very fast, and very accurate, but they thought that a short range missile should go further, and have a bigger bang at the end!) ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
