After some advice. Chain snapped yesterday so i grab the spare one out the crash box and go to honda to get a soft link. So get back and fit the link and find its about 5mm too long.

Now you usually bur over the edges so its nice and safe, wont come off and kill lots of little kittens. But obviously if i try and bur it back ill squish the o ring too much.

What do i do? Sould i grind the excess off and bur it over, or would it be alright as is?

Anyone had this before?

You can't use a too-long link, because the plates will move apart and the pins will bend. apart from that it will likely foul on something.

You might get away with cutting the pins back but you may find the pins are hard except for at the end, so when you cut them you might not be albe to rivet them afterwards.

Bet bet is take the link back and swap for one the right size. Take the chain with you in a bag, or take half the broken one to match it up.
