 |
|
I've got a 2 stroke ped, and would like to keep the carb nice and clean, but I want to do it the easy way.
I put some redex in the carb through the air filter about a month ago and always add a bit to the tank when I fill it up.
I don't want to be using it too often as I find 4 quid to be quite expensive for a bit of petrol cleaner. (yes I'm a bit of a scrooge )
Bought it for 2 quid, but asda put the bloody price up
How often do you reckon I should be putting redex through the carb?
Just like to say in advance, sorry if this topic has been posted somewhere else and thanks for any replies |

Firstly, don't waste your money on redex, its unlikely to be doing anything.
You shouldn't need to flush the carb out very often, if at all. You have petrol running through it all the time which is doing a good job of cleaning things up. If you wish to be really careful then fit an inline fuel filter. ____________________ https://www.metacafe.com/watch/1972097/how_to_behave_on_a_forum/ |

should never need it, only time when the carb blocks itself is when the ped been standing for more than a year with stale petrol which gums up.
If you lay up the bike, then drain the carb before storage |

Don't put redex in your air filter. It won't do it any good.
Don't put redex in your tank unless you think there is an issue.
I've never seen redex actually work, so...
Don't put redex in at all. As long as you use the bike regularly and don't leave it stored for months you won't need to. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |

I see what you mean now. I use it at least twice a week, so isn't left standing for more than 3 or 4 days.
Well at least I don't have to waste any more money than I have to.
Cheers for the advice guys |
