Went to leave for work this morning, bit cold so bike needs a bit of choke (who am I kidding it pretty much always needs a bit of choke to start..) alas the choke cable decides to snap :/

Good thing I still haven't sold the Hyosung (that's tomorrow!) so I could get to work on time. Luckily I am off tomorrow so no rush to get to work and I can sort the choke cable out on the Virago.

Hope the rest of the day goes better.

Await's cool story bro....

I feel the same having a car though - it's always comforting to know if somthing goes wrong with the bike i can still use the car until it's sorted and not have to rely on pubic transport.

You could have probably turned the idle screw in to get it to start or just gave it a bit of throttle?

OR you could have sprayed easystart/deodrant in the airbox, or choked the air box with your hand?

Not really the same. The choke is used to richen the mixture not just raises the revs. On unfaired bikes, actually on some faired bikes as well you can lift the choke lever or valve manually, you might have to hold it open for a minute or so but not the end of the world.

I tried for a bit with a bit of throttle, but all it did was run the battery down trying to start it lol

No easystart here, never thought of trying deoderant...don't know how to choke and airbox by hand?

I would probably have tried this but it was pitch black at 5am and I couldn't see to find where the other end of the choke is Razz I'll have a look in daylight tomorrow for future reference?!

To choke the airbox, all you do is put your hand over the opening to reduce the airflow.

Thanks mate, that will be useful after tomorrow as I'll only have the one bike! Well, if the choke cable breaks or freezes again that is Smile

The Virago only needs the choke to get it running in these cold mornings, once it's up and running it's all good.
