Hey there, sorry to hear about the bike.......

I was looking on ebay at these bikes a few weeks ago and there were loads of spares on ebay, engines, parts etc, not much help i now but it may be a cheaper fix than stripping the engine and repairing it again.

Hope you get this sorted and keep us posted. Thumbs Up

Well just think, when you've finished the rebuild you've got a virtually new engine that should go for thousands of miles if you look after it right.

Oh man, that sucks...

What do you think went wrong?
You say its seized, sounds like it went in a big way Neutral
Oil pump maybe? How long after the rebuild is this?
If your lucky you may not have wrecked the cylinder and may just need piston/rings etc...

keep us updated as to what happened.

Must just also say that not a bad looking NS you have there Smile

Best regards

good to see old ns's still going... or not, as in this case, lol
positive side is, its fairly cheap for top end parts for this engine & pistons & the like are still readily available.
as above, investigate the cause of seizure. was it run in? getting enough 2t? who did the work? (the ns is known for being quite hard to seize, lol)
you might be lucky & the barrel isnt wrecked...a couple of hours replacing piston & rings, small end bearing & gaskets & all might be well.
remember & flush out any debris!
cracking little bikes iirc,80 odd mph, no complicated pv's etc & usually fairly reliable.
cheers,
GAZ

ps : that isnt the standard exhaust is it?? looks like a micron.
hmmmmm...............does it still have the original air box?
if so, this is one of the few occasions i'd recommend an open air filter (k&n/sb type)
most 2t's dont like them, but i seem to recall these bikes benefiting from a good exhaust, mesh filters & a few plug chops.
good for around 20bhp, a real 90mph,decent wide powerband & plenty of useable power at low revs for pootling around in town......

think he did an edit where he suspected the oil pump was to blame.

That's scary what a oil pump fault can achieve.

Can you post more pics of the top and bottom half before during and after the rebuild pweeeeze ???

Damn,
I'm very impressed at just how quickly you managed to get that all back together!

Well played! And lets hope it all goes okay this time Very Happy

I have a spair engine for the NSR 125 which seems to be in okay nick (had the top end out and all seems pretty good). Only wierd thing is most of the bolts are missing from the left hand casing side and some of it has broken off where i'm guessing the bike was dropped (or bike the engine is out of). A little bit of JB weld and that will be okay, just wondering if the engine itself is okay.
Have a radiator and servo to so am thinking that engine should go in my supermoto :p

Wouldn't it of been wise to get the barrell honed or rebored? A scored barrell with a new piston isn't much good, i think it would be short live. But great news on the quick turnaround Thumbs Up

Plated barrel so can't be rebored (without being replated or having a liner inserted).

All the best

My spare barrel has obvious scoring but it runs, just quite weakly.

Did you actually come off it? It looked pretty tidy..
