Ebay trying to rip me off?

I just checked my ebay today and i have 7 messages off them saying i owe them 20 quid in monthly seller fee's what the hell is this shit? i sold maybe 3 items on ebay and i payed the listing fee's then and there why the hell should i have to pay them monthly fee's i was never told or read this anywhere when i used ebay years ago i never had any of this trouble?

Lucky for me paypal declined them from taking my money when they tried (else i'd be in debt), what can i do about this as i don't have 20p to my name right now let alone 20 quid!

Did you pay the final value fees after you sold your items?

Ebay is pretty expensive, with pay pal etc, you can easily be getting to pay 20% in total. The sad things is, at least a year or two ago ebay still weren't making a massive amount of money - you are paying for all the advertising, etc.

Ebay has always (that I remember) had final value fees that are charged at the end of the auction. These have gone up a bit, but not that much.
If you want free selling, try gumtree (owned by ebay ) or other similar classifieds.

Well as far as i knew i paid everything or have they changed the way it works now?... it used to be post advert pay listing fee's end of auction what ever else needed to be paid come off the total of the sale because i did'nt see anywhere stating 'pay final value fee's' once the auction was over and i normally check everything atleast twice to make sure i dont owe people money.

Only used ebay because its an easy option for a quick sale, but now there asking me for 20 quid in monthly seller fee's they can send debt collecters because i aint bloody paying it.

I just sold a car on ebay and agreed with the buyer to mutually withdraw to save on final listing fees, gave him a few quid off and saved myself a few quid but more importantly only had to pay ebay £8 in fees. I don't care about gaining feedback, I have enough to make me appear trustworthy already. The fees when combined with Paypal are pretty ridiculous.

G, where did you read that ebay weren't making money? They must have some seriously poor finance controllers if they have not been making money given there revenue and relatively minimal overheads.

they charged me £8 a month for ebay SARL whatever the fuck that was, but its soon changed on the ebay menu thing to one time payment

I try my very best to sell on forums now and stay off eBay.

Their charges are jsut too much these days and I disagree with it. I'm sure they'd make enough money if they dropped their prices by 95% but they're just greedy bastards with a monopoly on the online auction market.

if it says monthly sellers fee, its either the listing costs for the last month, in which case there should be some sort of a break down of all the costs ? is that hiding in there anyway ?

if not, it could be that youv accidently signed onto the powerseller or ebay shop type thing, theres a few different account types. which give reduced listing fees but have a monthly fee, could be that ? not sure though, there any more detail in the emails?

That's the thing, though - definitely a couple of years ago they weren't doing that well at all. Never really understood why as the can't spend THAT much on hardware/personal/power etc to get anywhere near their income.
And this was why they were really trying to push corporate stuff and making it worse for the normal people I guess - they get a lot more trouble free money coming in that doesn't have to have 'real people' deal with situations where one person's being stupid, because the big sellers are forced to keep their feedback rating up, so bend over to people trying to scam them.

They've already removed the choice to remove your listing and get your fees back, no you can only remove your listing but you still pay the listing fee.

Or am i seeing things? I remember you could cancel an item & your invoice would go back to £0.00.

Its the final value fee, 9% of each of the sales you made gets taken away, aren't they nice.

I wish i sold things for over 200 quid, i sold a graphics card for 29 quid and listed a power supply unit that did'nt even sell, ill ask them for a full invoice but if there trying to take over half the money off me for what i sold thats a bloody piss take! Can't think how i owe them so much money from selling 1 item and only listing 2, i listed them with the most basic features to save as much money as possible aswell.

EDIT: Found out they charged me a stupid amount for a laptop i advertised on there, had a fake ebayer use the buy it now, they even warned me about this and sent me a message saying there is no need to continue the sale so left it at that, got on the live chat guy got rid of the charges only owed them £4, still £4 from something that i sold for 29 quid is ridiculous!

ive had an email this morning, stating that my feedback is not good enough for a sellers account..

i have feedback of 99.4% off 321, had a guy give me bad feedback because i refused him a refund unless he sent the item back.. aside from that everythings fine with my account..

best part is that apprently my items will appear at the bottom on searches (best match), and i have a limit on what i sell..

great innit.. i only use it as im struggling to make ends meet atm..
