Hey guys,

Drum brake on my ER5 (before I took it off the road for some much needed repair) was squealing and grabbing. Fitted new shoes and adjusted it quite a bit to no avail.

What are the chances of having a warped drum and if it needs to be skimmed, is it an expensive job?

Thanks

Willson

Its very common for er5's to warp the drum, no idea how much it'd cost to skim it though. If you can't get it skimmed then you might have to buy a new rear wheel as a secondhand one is likely to have the same problem unless from a low mileage bike.

You can sometimes.. if not too bad ? use wet & dry ( dry ) between the shoes & drum , turning the wheel by hand & increasing the presure of the brake Neutral
