Hi Guys

I recently Had my motorbike nicked from my place, Well was stolen last december and I am going through claiming still with Chaucer (They passed me over to Brownsword Group)

When I spoke to them they are basically saying it's 50/50 chance of getting paid out due to me not having an immobiliser on the bike, they said it's required part of the policy??! First of all when I signed up to these guys I did NOT state I had an immobiliser on the Security devices all I put was motrax padlock and chain with disc lock.

So am I right saying if it's part of there policy to have an immobiliser and I have stated no where that i have one should they have insured me in the first place if its a part of there policy?

I need some advice just incase they try ripping me off, I am 3rd party fire and theft

Thank you

Read the small print of your insurance policy if there is no mention of needing an immobilizer. Then threaten the financial ombudsman. If there is then talk to the ombudsman anyway, it seem very unfair to have that fact hidden, what is the point of getting tpft cover on a bike without an immobilizer

I have looked at the documents they sent me through email (this email included my Certificate) so surely it should be stated there somewhere.

But I thought if there policy requires an immobiliser they should not of insured me because I should have to send a certificate in proving which one I have and etc correct? And if i didnt and did not state on the security devices section it's there own thought...they should of said " Erm we cant insure you because you have no immobiliser sorry" like anything else in this world

Ask them to prove where its stated in the policy that a immobiliser has to be fitted.

Did you take the policy online ?

If you did I wonder if when selecting your prefered security option the drop down box has moved to select a immobiliser.... Can happen very easily.

Yea I will do, Yea I did think that about the drop down box when I Did it online, but I checked over the documents and it states nothing about an immobiliser being fitted so, I'll keep you guys updated when spoke with chaucer Insurance.
