Just a quick rant, noticed a chap this morning walking with an old RD, geard up etc..

I spun round, pulled along side and offered a hand, he says hes fine and carries on. Then he walks past the petrol station and still, carries on..

Iv seen loads of people moan here that theyre never offered help, tbh i rarely am i just dont understand why youd refuse it where its offered.

Meh, that be all.

Because how much help can you really be pushing a bike? RDs aren't that heavy.

If I see a bike at the side of the road I'll always do the Thumbs Up Thumbs Down thingy to see if they are ok. I've only pulled in for one biker though as most seem to be fine.

I had someone stop for me when my clutch cable went and offered to take me the 30 mile there and back to the dealer to get a new one so I always pay it forward when I can.

I quit stopping for people a long time ago unless they actually flag me down. Often people would be broke down in the middle of the road with their hazards on causing a jam. When i'd stop and offer to help push it to the side and maybe have a quick look at it i was met with "no it's ok, i've called the AA/RAC etc".

I thought fine, sit there blocking everyone and wait 2 hours for something that might be a 2 min fix.

I've always been grateful of help and have had the bike dropped off home a few times in the back of a strangers van. Some poor sod nearly burn his Rascal van clutch out trying to tow my old Silvia turbo so thought i better bung him a few quid.

It could have been an easy fix, I could have give him a lift to get a spare part, a trailer, god knows.

I wasn't riding, my bikes not gracing the roads just yet.

Lots of possible reasons.
No point having another hand to push if you're fine yourself - maybe something important broke when he was half a mile from home, or something easy that he had the tools to fix at home.
Vast majority of the time I stop, help isn't needed/wanted.

I try and be helpful, not that I know anything, and make a point of stopping. One 1 occasion I was of help but I think it is important to at least check as at least it means someone cares. I have checked a few times also and found the person was fine and had stopped for a reason.

One of the things I like most about biking is that bikers seem to look after bikers and help and that is a great principle that I am keen to follow - What if they were desperate for help!

But maybe Mr. RD had already diagnosed the problem, so was saving you some time.

Why do you care if he didn't accept your help? At the end of the day you got the best deal. You offered help, but sacrificed none of your time because it was rejected. Win-win.

Maybe he ran out of juice and had no money?

Who gives a shit whether he didn't want your help really though?

You ride a bike, he rides a bike, maybe he doesn't go in for the whole Band of brothers, bikers together shit.
