I'm taking the pitty down for it's MOT on Monday.
I've just remembered the tyres are Carlsbad MX tyres. They both have "NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE" on the sidewalls.

Now does this fall under the same law as say, wide wheels on a car.
If the wheels are not covered by the arches, then the car is illigal.
However, that wont cause it to fail an MOT.

So in terms of tyres, as long as they are 1.6mm or above (Which they are, they're about 20mm atm! Laughing )
Will it pass?

Granted, im going to be getting a rather friendly MOT anyway, but I dont want to be taking the piss with the guy who does my MOTs for me.
I do try to get the bike as spot on as possible.

Examples of unsuitable tyres:

b. Motocross or similar tyres, i.e. tyres where the space between tread blocks is substantially greater than the size of the blocks themselves; which do not have MST (multi service tyre) with an 'E' in a circle or an e in a rectangle moulded into or on to the tyre wall

c. tyres designated by their manufacture as unsuitable for road use e.g. racing tyres or those marked NHS or NOT FOR HIGHWAY USE on the sidewall.

Bikes tread depth is 1mm unless the law has changed.

A friend has a XR400R with comp tyres fitted and he managed to get an MOT somehow.

I would also be careful as the insurance might not pay out in the event of an accident.

Buff it off with a matchbox or a small piece of sand paper.

I didn't tell you that though.

Yep, just get rid using a razor blade or similar. It's like the similar markings on an exhaust - just get rid.
