I don't have a garage but i have a semi-detached house. If I put my bike round the side of the house and close the 7 foot gate will it help with insurance?

Probably not, insurance companies normally ask if the bike is kept in a brick built garage. So even if you happen to have a shed made of steel I'm not sure most companies would take it into account.

Getting an alarm fitted and getting a decent chain and ground anchor might have some effect on the premium. But to gat a good chain and anchor you're probably looking at £150 or more and alarms are not that cheap.

You could always see if there are any garages for hire in your area or you could try and tell the insurance that you keep it in the house.

You might have got a better response if you'd posted this in general.

Tell them it is parked on private ground. As Dusty said ground lock it, and make sure its with an insurance approved ground lock & chain.

You can buy sheds which are seen by insurance comapnies as garages, but I doubt it is worth it.

If you tell Mitch it's garaged they only ask that it be stored in a locked building within 1 1/2 miles from your home
