my yokes and clip ons are really manky looking, they have marks all over them and stuff that looks like it would come off but needs more than soapy water

i bought some wet and dry paper today, coarse medium and fine, and i'd look to tidy up the yokes, not looking for a mirror finish polish, just smooth looking metal and maybe a bit of a polish at the end

how do you use wet and dry paper please, as i havent come into contact with any since GCSE and ive forgotten

also how do you know when youve used enough of one grade and need to go down etc

advice appreciated, people telling me to search not appreciated Mr. Green

You don't want to bother with all that messing about with levels, and wetness, there's a much simpler soloution:

Try the fine paper first. I'd guess that the others are to coarse and the scratches will be to deep.

Just wet the paper and metal before you start. The water just acts as a bit of lubricant and gives a smoother finish. Wink

This may be a naff suggestion but what about using those soap filled brillo pads? I used them on the centre of my brake discs and it got rid of all the marks and rust spots and didn't scratch, and they are great at getting rid of all the crap on your wheel rims. Maybe they would be good on clip-ons? Penny Coin
