Maybe it was posted before.. sorry if so..

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/First-rides--tests/2010/august/aug2310-top-ten-125cc-motorcycles/_/R-EPI-126316

For me, my R125 was the No1, but now.. i have confirmation.

MCN have spoken. The voters told it like it was.

Yes, haters, read it and weep Mr. Green

For me the YBR (i owned) or the cg is best, why?

Cheapest, no fairings, will live forever and a day, good bikes to pass test on.

Why spend 3 grand on a bike your going to keep for a few months just to upgrade again, when you could spend less than half that and use the rest for your next bike/ better gear etc.

Well that's my opinion I only got a 125 to have a bit of freedom and pass my test on, nothing more.

And the Honda VT125 shadow second. Laughing
As ever they present a completely unbiased review, well researched and not all biased towards who ever's just given them the best night out/advertising contract/etc Wink.

The RS deserved to be in that list I reckon. Possibly the CG too for it's robust reputation. Don't think any of the others do for any reason other than it'll appeal to people who buy MCN!

I looked at neither your username nor the contents of the post before thinking 'let me guess, you've found a survey that ranks your bike top...'

I saw one today (being ridden along a busy pavement by a chav) with a 'sports' exhaust that made it sound like a dirt bike that the exhaust had fallen off, and it had tiny clear lensed indicators on it Sick

Nice bike though, modern styling, decent build quality and handling i expect. I wish i'd had one when i was 17, at least it would look as fast as the 2 stroke 125's Laughing

I can't see the point in spending £3000+ on a 125 though. Chances are most will be bought by mummy & daddy, thrashed to shit, not maintained, dropped, crashed, stolen then put on ebay for £2700 with a load of accompanying bollocks about how it does 85mph and it's not even de-restricted yet, then it will do 110 easy and how everyone asks if it's a 600 and girls get their tits out for you as you ride past as it's such a sexy bike etc.

But like i said, nice bike. Treat it well and try not to act like a cock Wink Laughing

All I have to say on the matter is that if I had £3k burning a hole in my pocket the last thing I would spend it on is a 4T 125 which pretends it looks like an R6 when actually it looks like someones tried to graft one of those horrible TYGA fairings onto a YBR125. Even if I was 17 I'd rather have a £600 DTR / TZR / NS and spend the rest on beer and buttplugs.

Couldnt agree more! Minus the butt plugs Sick

All I know is that my 2005 RS (old styling) was a lot faster abd better to ride than a r125. I have been on a 2008 and 2010 r125 anf both are boring to ride, very weak power and I felt embarassed to get so many looks but have the speed of a dying hedgehog.

Rs 125 was not the best looking or sounding, but heck it was lovely to ride. Also I jumped on my ninja pretty easily whilemmy friend had to use the 400cc mode on his gsxr 600 because the 600 scared him.

That explains it!
Basically, people that have recently spent load of money on expensive 125s are trying to justify it to themselves Smile.

I will stick with my RS125

The Aprilia RS125 is probably one of the best handling bikes on the planet. Its able chassis can easily cope with double the power.

RS125 higher top end, weighs less, more torque, wider tyres

Really can't see how the RS came so low in the MCN revie....Oh wait, yeah its MCN isn't it Laughing

The R125 may be a prettier bike, but it costs too much and just isn't as good in the real world as the RS125.

IMHO.

R125 - expensive, sexy as hell (for a 125), fast (for a 4t 125)

All the reliability of a 4t, with the unreliability of a highly tuned engine.

it's a good ornament. but only for rich people. but if you're rich you'd have an R6 as an ornament...

perfect bike for a stylish but blind, rich, idiotic paraplegic.

I still want one Wink

The proper top 10 125cc list......

10 – Any spurious 125CC Scooter (serves a purpose)

9 – Yam SR125 (best 125cc cruiser imo)

8 – CBR125 (decent bikes but too thin for me)

7 – YBR125 (does everything it’s meant to – that’s the problem)

6 – XL125 Verado (perfect for bigger peeps)

5 – Hyosung GT125R (looks the mutt’s nuts)

4 – DT125 (best of the Crossers imo)

3 – Cagiva Mito (Best looking 125 Race Rep)

2 – RS125 (by far the most “popular” 125, but a little too unreliable
after being owned by a 17 yr old chav)

And the Winner..........

1 – NSR125 (perfect balance of speed / reliability / looks)

IMO I think any 2 stroke 125 is a fail, unless you are using it on a race track.

The 2 strokes get a lot more power than other 125 4 strokes, but are just not practical.

The Aprilia RS 125 is a beautiful bike and an excellent ride, and I'd put my money on it against a Kawasaki 250 ninja, but just how are you going to do a stretch of 200 miles of motorway, 1 on account of the engine, 2 horrendous fuel and synthetic oil costs, 3 rapid eventual engine rebuild cost?

I always wished Aprilia would make a 4 stroke 125 or 250 looking like or with the same fairing as the RS 125.
