Hey all,
Just asking if anyone could point me towards some relatively cheap trousers i could ware to keep myself warm whilst the weather is a pain as i'm concerned anything i get wont be warm enough.

I'm riding about 100 miles round trip twice a week on an NSR 125 so a just over an hour each way.

At the moment I ware:
- thermal bottoms
- trakky's
- armoured textile trousers
- lined trousers
- water proof's over

as you could imagine, I cant get my legs bent much further than up to the pegs so i'm looking for anything out there as it also takes up a huge amount of space (take my hiking burgeon to uni to fit it all in).

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Best regards

-Jvr

With all that you are wearing my suggestion is...... man the fuck up Wink

You are wearing more than what most people do. Get a good pair of textile trousers that are wind proof. Thumbs Up

Stop wearing as much...... Rolling Eyes

What you are doing is making things too tight so the colds seeps straight through.

You need a base layer = thermals, std trousers and some lined textiles. That should be more than enough to keep your legs warm.

Oh and keeps your legs tucked into the side of the bike Thumbs Up

Your body will shut off the blood flow to your extremities if your core gets cold. More layers up top = warmer legs.

Oh and change the thread title. I keep reading it as "Warm Lovers" and it's confusing me!

Even in the depth of the worst temperatures, I wear a thermal base layer with either armoured textile trousers over them for commuting, or leathers and waterproof overtrousers for weekend riding.

As mentioned above, keeping your core temperature up may help..
I wear a t-shirt and/or thermal top, a zip-up fleece then my textile jacket with winter lining fitted.

If your layers are way too loose you'll obviously have a problem with cold air getting in to them, but if they're too tight you may have an issue with circulation. Also, if the layers are too tight, you may be compounding the problem by reducing the amount of air between your layers of clothing.

Nowt wrong with a pair of jeans.

With all that you're putting on at the beginning of every journey and taking off at the end of it, never mind carrying other clothes you might as well be wearing anyway, and all the time involved in all that faffing around, you might as well sit in traffic in some crappy cage.

I agree with the rest. I wear my jeans with my winter textiles over them and I'm toasty.

Although if your still having problems keeping warm a friend of mine recomends a pair of tights. She said it keeps her legs warm under her clothes.

Exactly the same for me, and my textile trousers were only £40. Never felt cold when wearing them.

I've dual layered textiles with the inner sitting in my wardrobe as they are too warm with the jeans on under them.

*awaits ridicule*

I did actually try this under Jeans and it does keep you warm..

But then I thought if I ever crashed the paramedics would be too busy laughing to treat me.

Now its Jeans and ski trousers or proper bike trousers depending on which one got wet the day before.

The nurses kept a straight face when they removed my tights after coming off the XJ Embarassed

Yep,
I think you guys have nailed it...
lots of layers, not much space between.

The textiles i have are summer ones so air goes straight through them, tomorrow, textiles with ski pants over... lets see what happens!

Cheers for all the input, constructive and amusing heh.

I tried wearing thermals that I bought from Lidl.

Honestly, it was useless. Being very tight meant that my blood was away from my skin or something. It felt cold!

Thick textiles with normal stuff works well.

I cant understand this coldness people get. This morning I left and it was 2c. For my commute into work heres what I was wearing.

On top I had a 'Rab C Nesbit' vest, Textile Armoured jacket, Helmet, Neck scarf and some summer leather gloves.

On the bottom I had a pair of boxers, Textile Armoured Trousers, pair of sports socks and some steel toe cap boots.

After 20 miles and 30 minutes my fingertips were a little bit cold....
