I just noticed that when I first startup my Piaggio Zip after its been sat idle for a few days a load of white smoke comes out the exhaust for a few minutes then it runs fine.

While the white smoke is coming out the engine is not running right you can hear it struggling to run.

After a few minutes it seems to clear and the bike runs fine.

There is history to this problem, about 1.5 years ago I took my bike to a garage and filled it up, later that same day I started having problems with the engine not running right.

I took it to a garage and they said water was in the carboretta, anyway it seems they did not drain the tank and I started having the same problem again whenever my fuel gets down below a certain level - the bike would start fine but then expierience the problem after a good few miles.

I left the bike sat idle for about 9 months and now instead of having problems when running for awhile I get white smoke out of the exhaust when I start it up then it clears and it runs fine.

I am pretty sure evapouration has had a hand in changing the symptoms of the problem but now I have white smoke!

Whats the likely cause and how do I get rid of it.

+1 and excess 2 stroke oil as well, my H100 and GP100 both do this as well.

They will run rough for a minute until they are nicely warmed up, take it easy. In the summer they run really well.

While they are warmed up, if they run really well and no problems starting on the same day then there is nothing to worry about.

When was it last service (theres not much to em anyway!)

It's steam. My YBR (4 stroke) does this as well especially in this cold damp weather, and even more so after I fitted a new aftermarket exhaust, which doesn't have a drain hole in the bottom, like the OEM one has. Pretty normal.
