hi there im going to view a gsxr 600 srad this week it was bought needing work and have been told its had all the work needed for mot but never got rount to getting it moted,

iv always had scooters or 125s for the road so not familiar with this bike im told its the ( srad ) model but whats that mean and is there anything i should really look out for when viewing other than the obviouse things,i dont know milage service history ect until i go but what is seen as high milage on these bikes its a 1998 btw any advise before hand would be great as its quite cheap but dont want a money pit thans adam.

I never quite understand this....
If you think it will pass, then get it through and up the value of the bike.

Personally treat it as a bike that will require work to get through the mot.
If you like the look of it. Tell them to get it mot'ed and then you will buy it. If they say no. Then get haggling and be prepared to walk away.

Find out what work was needed and what thye have done.
Check it over carefully. Make sure the engine is cold when you arrive.

Agreed here. If the seller thinks the bike will pass the MOT then why hasnt he spent the £30 to get it through. A bike with a full MOT will sell for way more than the same bike without the MOT.

Given the choice of selling a bike for £850 or spending another £30 and selling it for £1000 Its a no brainer.

Again agreed for the last 2 posts.

An MOT will increase the value of the bike.

Get the relevant numbers and do an MOT check on-line. It might be that they have already MOT'd it and it failed. Worth checking what its failed on as it could be something small, or it could be something massive.

yeah thanks for replys,iv never understood that myself, unfortunatly i wont be viewing this bike as i called the insurance im with as i had a scooter on it and they said i cant put a proper bike on that policy,

they say its a scooter only thing and id have to set a new policy up losing the no claims iv bult up so far well it would be a years ncb.

iv now got to find a 125 until the policy ends in september.
