Move your mouse pointer to the edges of the screen - if it changes to a double arrow, click and drag the taskbar back out.

It can not be removed without using a third part app.

I will be hiding on one of the screen sides with auto hide or as above pointer to the side will change to arrows and it can be dragged

What I mean by this is there is no key combo etc to do it.. Windows screwing up on the other hand is a different matter
