Graphics Card Misbehaving

Hello all. I just bought A PC and it had no GC. I had an existing one but it was too big for the tower so I went and got a cheap ATi RX1600 PRO. Followed all of the instructions to get this to work but nothing. Disabled and uninstalled the onboard graphics, switched off, installed the GC. When the power is switched back on, the screen just remains blank, no beeps or anything.

I tried installing the drivers before and after installation - neither worked. I have an old 128MB nVidia that I just installed and that works fine. Any ideas about this Ati card or is it kaput?

Really obvious question, is the PSU up to the strain?

You have connected the external power supply for the card, as I do believe that model requires non-split power connector to make sure of an interrupted supply of power!

If so, then maybe a dead card on arrival then take it back to where you bought it and get your money back. I have read a lot of people on the net have received dead ones with the blank screen!

If you can change aperture size i.e. 256 if it's a 512mb card


This is what one person found out testing it if you've actually got a PCIe card but try disabling the graphics option on motherboard bios due to possible conflict with card.

Tried card in PCIe slot 1.. No video signal.. Monitor light remains amber
Tried card in PCIe slot 2.. It works! and can get to bios
Tried card in PCIe slot 3.. It works! and can get to bios

How do I go about disabling the motherboard graphics card in the BIOS?

After reading more at AMD's site about your card it states check motherboard manual/compatibility list to see if your card is compatible!

What a load of help that is as they don't give much help on their site, and they talk a lot without giving actual solutions!
