Are you sure you want a 600 SPORTS bike Smile.

Anyway, G/J model ZX6R, CBR 600 F4 (FX/FY), Yamaha Thunder cat.

If you don't like 'leaning over the tank' consider getting riser bars of some kind.

If you don't want to be hunched over, I'd say skip the sports bikes and have a sit on a Fazer 600 or Bandit S.

Not a sports bike but have you considered a Suzuki SV650? Massively underestimated bikes!

I don't think they are at all, People know exactly what they are appreciate them for it. If somebody is after a 600 sports bike they don't want something with a 1/3 less power and cheap brakes and suspension.

Check out a TT600 too, not to pretty but one of the more comfortable Sports 600's and the best handling in that price range.

Not strictly a sports bike but how about an er6f? Sports bike styling but more upright than any sports bike. May be hard pushed to get one under £1500 though.

Also, sports 600s tend to have circa 100hp, which is way above the 650 twins. A litre twin commuter would be a better suggestion, maybe?

Are you sure you even want a sports bike?

From your requirements the closest matches are the older sports 600s. These were less focussed than newer ones and have pillions seats, more upright positioning and some have a few nice bits like centre stands etc to make servicing easy. CBR6F would be my suggestion although the older zx6rs and thundercats are good too.

Yeah, a few on here have them and rate them as really good bikes. Tend to be cheaper than the same age CBRs too.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Why do you want these numbers?

You do know that the 'cc' doesn't mean much about, well, anything.

For instance a TRX850 is a fair bit slower than a 600 sports bike.
Something like a SV1000 is fairly similar in peak power to a modern 600, but has a lot more midrange.
My old 1000cc BMW was a fair bit slower than most 400cc sports bikes Smile.

Well looking for somthing that is cheap to run and buy and guessed that 600 or so would be a safe bet.

However I think an old ZXR / ZZR etc. will do me fine

For a budget, you cannot go far wrong with a ZX6R G/J. They are very roomy and the fairings do a pretty good job of keeping the wind and elements at bay. I've ridden my mates J and it's pretty much capable of doing anything you want it to. It's a bit "sports tourer" by modern standards but it won't cripple you on a 200+ mile journey. It's fine in town and still looks good after all these years.

Very little goes wrong with them. If anything, it'll be the brake calipers and maybe suspension (linkages or the actual shocks themselves - but it's the same with any 10 year old bike, the components are worn).
