My NSR is the 2001 Model, with the Electric Style Powervalve, i'm told that the valve isnt opening and therefore is "fouling" the Sparkplug...? effectively flooding the bike, Does anyone have any advice?? Plz Plz Plz!!

hey, Thnx. the issue started when i was riding the bike, only when the revs went up around 8K, then the bike seemed to have run out of fuel, it would then not start even tho it had plenty of fuel. The sparkplug was wet, after cleaning the plug, it started again, and would run, but only when kept below 8k hence the thoughts about the Power Valve. is it easy to get this problem fixed?? and would a new valve sort the issue out?? ____________________ Iceman |

I have had my battery crap out on me in the past and with the powervalve closed, anything over 8,000 rpm is a pain in the arse.
The theory is its supposed to optimise the running of the engine by increasing the exhaust port but the truth is without it, over 8,000rpm it will run like a sack of potates.
That being said, it should not be cutting out so i would say it sounds like yr power valve isnt running and the bike itself isnt running to well and thus cutting out over 8k.
Is it resptricted, if not, what jets are in the carb?
Suggestions, clean out the air filter, get the carb out, give it a clean, not the carb jets and report back with the jet numbers
Best regards
