TZR 125 Powervalve Control Unit

Could this work as an alternative to the YPVS control unit? (which are so hard to get hold of).

Seems like it's programmable to work with a servo motor and adjust opening at different revs.

Anybody got any experience with one of these things?

ive got a tzr 125 1998 model not fitted with servo i dont think they fitted the survo till 1994 onwards so if u dont have one its like mine a 2rk. you dont need the servo to get full power simply turn the power valve 180 degrees and it fully open. now you do suffer a slight splutter between 4.5-5000 rpm which can be anoying if stuck behind a cager going up hill at snails pace due to the lack of torque being a 2 stroke from pull off you wont notice it. but beleive me when the power kicks in your in for a very nice suprise your looking at 0-60 in around 4.5 - 5 second and 30-90mph is enuf to rival 1.6 - 2.0 cars on mid range acceleration and as for small cars 1.2 etc no contest even top end mine does 105 mph clocked by a car on duel carrage way all with standard exhaust and jetting. i had a little race with my mate on his 600 ninja which was restricted to 33 bhp and he couldnt pull past me up to 80.

well worth doing i was going to buy the servo etc but 1 there rare 2 your looking at 70 for the servo and 40+ for the control unit.

Yeah I had a go on my mate's TZR... had the PV open it was much faster than mine once it hit 7k revs, having to rev the bollocks off it is kind of annoying though.

Plus I'm running my new piston/bore in at the mo so ideally I'd like a better solution.

Anybody got any experience with the ignitech thingy?

i just had a little look at that servo thing and it looks like its designed for much bigger 4 stroke bikes with the valve actually being in the exhaust? im not sure but i doubt it will fit.

it doesnt matter if your running it in i opend mine up last april when i did a top end rebuild rode it fairly gentle for 50 mile then cained the fuk out of it for the last 5000 it was still going strong but i taken her to bits for a bit of a re-furb had the barrel sent off bin bored out to +0.050 oversize. theres no way im shuting the valve ive adjustred the oil pump to run sligthly richer than usual just to compensate the same as i did last time. ill take some photos tomoz of my head an tht while its off.
