I'm pretty sure the DRZ400 makes around 33bhp anyway, doesn't it?

I don't think they're restricted in the traditional sense but there's ways of making them pokier. I believe the 3x3 airbox mod is common - doesn't the E version have a bigger carb or something as well?

Either way, you're not going to get much more out of it.

There's a few models.

There's the E which is the enduro, not road legal but it has a bigger carb and a higher tuned engine...

The K which is the kickstart-only version

The S which is the street version, like the SM but without the 17" wheels and it has smaller brakes.

There are a few ways to make them more powerful, maybe look for a carb off the E model and have a looksee for what you can do to get more power.

I think the S and SM models push out 33.9bhp as standard.

Lots of info here: https://www.drz400uk.org/technical-f10.html?

DRZ's are not that quick though, will have to mess about and spend quite a bit getting to improve performance... 3x3 mod, new exhaust, rejet, removal of emissions bits to start with - could even get the carb from the E model, big bore kit and cams etc. if you want to chase the 55bhp mark. Personally when I want more performance I will buy a new bike Very Happy Some DRZ fanatics spent daft amounts importing things from the states.
