A mate's Aprillia has been stolen. It was it was in his kitchen and was stolen along with a number of other items on Monday. As he's just a summer rider these days, it was not insured.

He's putting up a £1000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the bike.

Here's the details...

Location - South Wales.
Aprilia RSV1000R
Colour - Black
Year - 2006
Mileage - 7K
Mods/accessories - Gianelli cans
It also has a private number plate.

If you have any information on this, please PM me and I will pass on your details. Cheers.

I'm assuming due to the reward and it being in the kitchen... it wasn't insured?

Beautiful bike, tis a big shame

Unlucky Sad Got a picture and reg number?

If you haven't already, might be worth posting this on:

There seems to be a reasonable following for RSVs on bikersoracle, and it probably wouldn't hurt to put it on TuonoZone either.

Reading fail there, my bad.

Should be covered under house insurance unless they have a nasty little small print?

I'm betting that the house insurance company will squirm out of it, under a, "should have told us it was stored inside the house, and btw that's an increased fire risk you haven't informed us of" clause. RSV's aren't usually "contents" are they? You could try tho. Read the policy documentation CLOSELY first.

On my contents insurance I had to inform them that I kept a mountain bike at my house so I very much doubt they'd pay out for a newish sportsbike.

Makes you wonder why it was targeted when so many expensive bikes are just sitting on the roads with next to no security

No pic I'm afraid, he's not actually had it that long. It's 100% standard apart from the cans, mint condition.

The reg is P8 DSY. Or at least that was the plate attached to it. He's actually sold that and re registered it with a normal registration. As the log book was nicked along with it, he can't remember what it was.

Neath I think. Somewhere round there anyway, I don't really know the guy that well but his father is a very good friend of mine and lives in Neath with his son pretty close by.

Other than the 2-300 security cameras on every street corner! I'd guess those who nicked it knew exactly what they were looking for. As far as I'm aware, no-one heard it so I'm guessing it's been put in the back of a van.

An opportunist burglar doesn't expect a bike in a Kitchen and come prepared with a van.

That bike and premises have been checked out fairly thoroughly beforehand. Either that or someone close by who knows his comings and goings tipped em off.

Just a hunch, but bad luck either way.

As they've nicked the V5 he should be able to tell the DVLA so when someone tries to register as the new keeper the Police can go and find it.

And then remove it from the grasp of some poor fkr who's just handed over a wedge of cash for said bike complete with log book to low life scum who nicked it

If the guy sells it with the V5 as is, he's got to explain to the purchaser why the V5 address isn't the same as where he lives, and why he has no MOT certs or other paperwork.

"The name on the V5 says Mark Bikerguy, why does the name on your van outside say Joe Pikeythievincnt, 'we swipe anything'?"

Presuming the buyer isn't too stupid

what kind of a person only insures a bike when he's riding it? Does he only think thieves operate between april and august?

Have a free consultation with a solicitor, if the thieves are found he might have recourse in tort. If so, he'd get a similar wedge to what the insurance would pay. I don't actually know about in England but in Scotland that's the situation. Thumbs Up

The bike was located in South Wales, so maybe similar rules to Scotland?
