Space Invaders Question.

I have just got myself a Space Invader game which I will put onto my laptop asp.
Now I've used the free Space Invader that you can use for free of the web, but you have to use your own key pad which is where the problem is, as I keep hitting the wrong button.

Question.. Can I buy a Paddle /Joystick like you had in the original game, that will fit on my laptop.
Lots of games have hand held controls would one of them fit the bill.

Check the setting to see if there is joystick section.

I could swear there used to be a thing you could get which was basically just a plastic joystick handle with a 4-way foot on the bottom and some extra bits for stability... you plunked it on your keyboard over the keys of your choice (numpad for preference) and off you went, no worries.

Google's got nothing though. Maybe I dreamed it?

However, I would ask just how much difficulty you have with your keyboard in everyday life if you can't even control space invaders that well - it's left, right, fire, FFS. Map the movement buttons to keys comfortable for index/middle finger on your right hand and fire to something for your left (or left index for left, right for right, and space for fire - both thumbs!). Job done, surely.

Now, trying to play it on a nokia phone keypad, THAT's a pain in the arse. 4 for left, 6 for right... and... no, not "0" for shoot, but "5". Genius.

You can get PC game pads quite cheaply and with any luck either the game should have a joystick option OR the pad driver (I think windows has one built-in for USB devices?) should allow it to sub in for certain keypresses.

They put that in for accessibility reasons as far as I know, as well as wanting to attract the gamer crowd...
