Posted: 18:26 - 12 Jun 2011 Post subject: DNA 50 BOGGING DOWN ON REVS BUT DOES GET SPEED |
 |
|
I'm having the same problem here!
I'm finding it easy to get to about 15mph, and then i go for more, it bogs down and the revs go to about 3000rpm. But they do get up to about 7000rpm after reving it repeatedly a few times.. Sometimes i do get 10000rpm, and it gets to 35mph but only down hill, but i hear the engine picking up and once at that speed it stays there and doesn't bog down. If i take the revs off, then put them back on it bogs again and i'm back down to 15-20mph...
Now i don't have a baffle plate on the carb... And i've been told its rollers, but i'm not so sure!
It has a sports exhaust, standard rollers and standard jet. The only thing that has been changed is the exhaust.

HELP ME |
To the above poster:
Are you not able to read or just plain stupid? Since you wrote this, im assuming its the latter.
Let me just clarify this for you:
IF YOU FIT A SPORTS EXHAUST YOU HAVE TO UPJET 10-12%. Otherwise you risk seizing your engine. This is written on pretty much every post/website to do with fitting a 'sports' exhaust to a scooter. Stop riding it until you upjet. You should probably also change your rollers and clutch springs to mirror the increased engine performance otherwise you wont be hitting the powerband when you should be.
Back too the OP, It sounds to me that your exhaust could be coked up. Take the exhaust off and get some caustic soda in there to clean out the coke (there are plenty of guides available online). Get a new plug in there while the exhaust is off. If this fails then you may as well whip the variator off and check the rollers. ____________________ Former: Derbi GP1 50, Sachs XTC 125, Suzuki GSXR 400 GK73A, Kawasaki ZX7R, Suzuki DR250, Yamaha RD350

Ye, he said 'standard jet' and 'the only thing that has been changed is the exhaust' That sounds like he hasn't done anything to the jet, hence why I said that he should change the jet. Well that's how I interpret the word STANDARD.
As for the rollers, I have heard numerous people on here suggest changing the rollers when putting a sports exhaust on to see a noticeable change in acceleration, so again, wtf's wrong with saying that?
It's a possibility that it just needs a de-coke, but if it's a brand new exhaust that has just been put on, then I highly doubt it.
Mine had managed to go for about 6 months until it needed a de-coke.
To the OP, take your exhaust off and take it for a run to see if it runs any better.
It will be a bit noisy, but is an easy and quick way to find out if thats the problem.
You'll just have to do a bit of trial and error.
If it runs better with the exhaust off, drop me a pm and I'll send you a guide of how I de-coked mine with caustic soda. |
