The terminals on my new battery are designed so that you screw in horizontally from the side, but the contacts on my bike are designed to be screwed in from the top.
I have tried manoeuvring the contacts, but there isn't space for the wire to fit in sideways.

Has anyone had this problem before and what did they do?

I figure I can bend the contact metal, but I don't want it to snap (+ its fecking solid!).
I was also looking at getting a right angled bracket (along the lines of bracket ), but I'm sure there is a better way.

So what would you do?

(I've stuck a little image in to give an idea of the problem)

you can get right angle convertors, usually get a pair in a YB12AL-A2 battery as they fit 535 virago and 3HE FZR600 and the angles are different for each bike

most bike shops should be able to get you one

I would just bend it to fit. Those brass tabs are stronger than the look. Don't bend it back & forth too many times though because it will work-harden and snap very quickly.
