This was put together from a lovely ride up Rohtang La in the foot hills of the Himalaya. La means pass and Rohtang means pile of corpses! This pass isn't the highest elevation on the fantastic ride to Ladahk, but it is usually one of the most difficult. During the monsoons the heavy clouds race up through India and this is the first pass that they hit, so they dump everything on it. Its only open for a brief few months during summer then closed in again due to the amount of snow. Even in summer it can be closed due to landslide or sudden rains, or broken down Tata's! Anyway this was a fantastic day in October. Very late in the season and very rare.

i guess we can't properly embed a video here?

How about this one of riding through the streets of Delhi

And lastly a nice one dicing with death in mountains of Kashmir and trying to avoid a huge convoy of Tata's

Glad you liked. Yeah some really amazing scenery. You sometimes forget you are in Indian, but then a Tata truck comes round the corner nearly killing you, and you remember real fast!

My friends live in Goa for about 8months of the year, then they come back for summer and do the rallies, parties, shows etc. over here. They too, pack up their Enfield and go exploring all over India.

Time before last that I visited Goa and met up with them, and went three up on their Enfield around Calangute, the looks we got from the natives was of sheer surprise and amusement...which I thought was funny considering how families in Asia ride around on scooters and noone bats an eyelid.

Thanks for sharing your recordings. Thumbs Up

Yeah Goa is awesome. Of course my opinion might be skewed on account of the cute little Russian girl I was hanging out with! Mr. Green

I've seen a fair few videos on Youtube of people riding round India. It looks.... erm .... interesting.
I should imagine 6 months over there and your reactions and observations will be as sharp as a really pointy stick !

I was thinking the roads looked pretty decent for Indian highlands and then towards the end of the first video the usual dirt track with a mile drop on one side appeared Smile

Amazing scenery though, sad it's always the most deprived and under developed places that have the best views .....like Scotland Wink

Yeah the first video was taken on Rohtang La, right after they had paved a nice stretch of it. But their idea of paving a road is, roughly grade it, throw down about 3 inches of crushed rock, followed by 3 inches of tarmac, "oww we got a road!" Yeah for about 6 months. The older paved roads are some of the roughest riding out there. Dips and ripples from the trucks and pot holes that can swallow you and a Royal Enfield.

Glad you noticed that mile drop. I didn't when I was riding, and probably would never have ridden that close if I'd realized how friken close I was to the edge! I was stuck waiting for traffic and as i pulled off the camera slipped down the handlebar to the angle it shot the video in. I was so focused on not sliding into the mud and getting hit by the on coming cars I didn't notice just how close I was to the edge.

Interesting it is! It's actually a fantastic experience, and yes it definitely hones your reactions.
