I heard this on the radio yesterday.
As the guy said "How many others have just payed up and not known?"
Good on him for standing up for himself.

I read something on an anti speed traps site about the laser guns being dodgy too. They actually spoke to an "Expert Witness" from one of the major manufactures. The gist of it was that these guns were only ever designed and tested to measure distance not speed and that the beam has to bounce back off a flat perpendicular surface. The beam spreads over distance and in most cases is wider than a bike at point of contact possibly giving an inaccurate reading or something along those lines.

How did he get the pics?

The penalty notice's all say that you can only see the pics if you go to court?

If you agree to a court hearing does that mean they send you the pics in advance?

My brother said something about a speed camera in Norwich city centre that kept going off at whatever speed he went passed it at.
I kept thinking he was getting busted doing ridiculously low speeds when he wasn't. I thought it would be because it was either faulty or it was being tested for some reason.
He used that road everyday and told me that it got filled up with a new reel of film every mornin, so god knows what was wrong with it.

He was in a traffic jam at the time, as he is every day at that time. Thats how he knew that he wasn't speeding.

In that case I wonder how many other people have been done the same way but just paid up.

Probably loads. The letters they send threaten you that they will only show you the pictures if you go to court, and then you will have to pay a higher fine as well as costs.

I have triggered several cameras when under the speed limit. Ones in Penkridge twice, plus the one on the A449 near J13 of the M6 heading North.

All the best

Keith

Hi

Never got anything through.

However the interesting bit about this guy being done is that the cameras type approval only counts if the images are checked manually before being despatched. As his is pretty conclusive proof of this then it is likely that they never check the pictures, rendering possibly all their prosecutions open to being overturned.

All the best

Keith

I think he must have been trying to set a new record for the worlds slowest bike rider? Unless he was trying to break a land speed record. If your going to ride around at 13mph you might as well walk.

Rolling Eyes Did you even read any of it?
He's actually a car driver. Secondly he was in traffic jam at the the time, so no prizes for guessing he couldn't exactly get to law breaking speeds even if he wanted to.

And besides, walking speed is between 3 and 4 MPH, AFAIK.
