Often seeing people regarding to them as that.. Why? It looks good, is versatile, can be extensively customised.. and when you hit 5k it takes off pretty well to be fair.. So why the hate? Can't be that bad surely!

They're the bike equivalent of a Ford Mondeo. There's nothing wrong with them, at all, but they're not the stuff of dreams either.

I'm still happy with my bandit, it gets me from A - B, and rarely goes wrong.

5k, obviously riding wrong.

8k maybe.

It just doesn't do anything spectacular. It is just.... bland. As Nexus says, its the Mondeo of the bike world, averagely priced, can't really make it faster, just add Halfords tat.. its just.. as it is...

Porky and hideous and asthmatic; the biking equivalent of the surly, past-it ex-stripper on the reception of your local Spearmint Rhino.

The only real Blandit is the 600/650

The 1200 is a mile munching powerhaus.
The 400 is a high revving noise maker.

No more exciting than the CB500 , which for some reason has a sort of 'legendary' status

Never ridden a bandit but couldn't fault my CB500

I think the black naked ones look good, ive ridden one and cant say i was blown away though.
When doing my DAS on the hornet then having to jump onto the bandit to do mod2 as the key broke in the hornet the bandit just felt very sluggish fat and lazy compared to the hornet and now my ninja.

The 650 feels like it's hewn from solid, which it may actually be. Some folk like that. I am not a fan. Nobody is right or wrong. I'm right.

I seem to remember, when the B12 came out, the biking press went mad about it; it was the wheelie king and the ultimate hooligan bike.

Obviously things have moved on.............

I'm perfectly happy with my bandit 600. Only bikes other than 125s I've ridden are gs500, sv650 and my bandit. Out of those 3 I straight away preferred the bandit.

The only thing I can fault about it is the suspension being ridiculously too soft, especially for riding with a pillion. If they're over 10 stone I'd think twice about taking them.

My 400 is fun as fuck, but then I haven't got anything to compare it to other than two 50cc scooters and a 4t 125.

Even if they are "bland" in comparison to other bikes of a similar CC, there is still much fun to be had.

I have a 99 plate gsf600s and I love it. I owned a YBR before it and did my DAS on an ER6n which I found too small for my 34 inch inside leg and as I was learning on it, I never opened it up.

So for me, owning a bandit as my first big bike, which to me is like shit of a shovel, just gets me very very excited for the next bike I buy.

Ps posts like this do not help with my impulse buying problem.

When I first got mine I thought it was the best thing ever Laughing Now I've got used to it and chuck it around bends a bit more, you quickly realise it's far from being a sports bike!

A good bike it is, brilliant as an all rounder like commuting and the odd blast but don't even bother trying to keep up with mates on their sportsbikes around country roads. It just wobbles around bends at 2/3rds their pace

The 400 is a GSXR engine in a fuddy duddy frame.

The 600 was such a success because Suzuki released it originally at a time when magazines were asking for a 70's retro-style eveyday bike. They identified a hole in the market and Suzuki filled the hole beautifully. It appealed to new rider who could afforda new bike at just 4 grand, old riders who didn't want a plastic rocket and born-again riders because it looked like the type of bikes they wanted to own back when they were riding.

I don't think anyone has criticised the B12; the only crime they're sometimes guilty of is the Halfords ram-raid approach to customisation.

A black bandit with bolt on twin headlights is the silver vectra of the biking world.
