Just crashed the ZX6R Sad

On my way home, deer jumps out, swerve and brake to miss the thing and went down Sad Slid kinda into hedge/ ground/ tree. Bike stopped upon hitting tree followed by me hitting tree type thing as well Neutral

Bike seems mostly ok, www.okas.co.uk/stuff/crash/ and the gear lever is a bit bent as well. Only possible major problem is the forks. The LHS one is leaking loads. They weren't leaking on Sunday evening, but I'm hoping I've just blown the fork seal as opposed to bending it Sad

Lesson learnt? Dunno, but if I see that deer again... Twisted Evil

Deer are solid things. One jumped into my mums car door once (while we were going along at about 45) and dented it so it wouldn't open. The deer just carrier on as if nothing had happened.

So you'd probably find yourself picking bits of ninja out of the deer, not vice versa.

Unlucky Ste, you had just sorted all the fairings hadn't you?
At least going down to avoid a dear is a pretty valid excuse for a crash. Wink Karma

Oh no Ste!
You might be better off not hitting the deer though, they are quite hefty.

Hope you're not hurt!

Ouch! Hope all is fixable Ste. A bit of a harsh attack from such a stupid animal. When will they learn to look both ways before crossing? Confused

Atleast you didn't have total impact and wrote the bike off so think yourself lucky and your not injured so all isn't too bad.

Hi

Ouch. Glad you are OK. Good luck sorting it out.

Aim for the sheep next time. They do far less damage.

All the best

i doubt you have bent the forks as it takes a lot of force to do so and usually the headstock gives way before they do!

I've bent forks and a few bikes in my time Confused. Headstock has never given way first, and I've always walked/limped away from these, so they can't have been /that/ bad Smile.

Sorry to hear that mate, as had been said deer are pretty hefty. One of the feckers wrote my sister in laws Volvo off on a motorway slip road and that was one solid car. It also got back up after about 5 mins and ran off apparently.
