I see some guy commuting on Honda Xelvis.
I think Xelvis was one of the best 250 tourer bike.
But it didn't sell well and dropped soon.
But there are still core fans of this bike.
-16L tank
-7L utility box
-10 hooks
-Large body and Half fairing
-172kg

Do(Did) you like this bike? or not? why?

present VTR250 (as a comparison)

16ltr tank on a 250 Surprised Thumbs Up
Looks like the perfect good winter commuter.

That new bike does look quite nice,(no USD..weird) but what is its purpose? It'll be too underpowered for sunny Sunday blasts. Motorways will be a pain in the neck. Pillion seat looks smaller.

Bet it's expensive.

I think it's purpose is learner bike which can go on motorway, and which doesn't need MOT(new VTR). 250 is cheaper than 400 to have.
When I bought CB400SF as a first bike, I felt it so heavy and I couldn't lean it. I should have bought VTR250 instead. So Xelvis wasn't good for entry bike I think. Xelvis is a good tourer cheap to keep I think.

look's like a GPZ..

would make a good small cc commuter, not sure about touring as I'd prefere to have a few more bhp under my seat than the 36bhp the Xelvis had out of the factory if I was going to do any high mileage touring.

That VTR250 does look nice... Cool

Yes xelvis owners say 50mph is comfortable speed. It's not a powerful bike. Maybe no MOT under 249cc rule is Japanese only. If there was not that rule, 250 isn't attractive.

It looks like VTR250 styling is more popular than Xelvis.
(I don't know why but I like that type of half faring design)

I know i'm biased as the CB250RS was my 1st proper bike after i passed my A2. But what a great bike, to learn how to ride. So light that even my daughter could pick it up (she fell off it).

Seriously..It's handling is fun and safe(predictable) The engine has guts...not balls if you get my meaning. In the right gear at 8k it'll keep pulling...clutchless FTW.

Kickstart version so even lighter than the other models. Dry weight of 125kg Laughing

...Sorry about that.Embarassed I started to sound like him with the RSXSX1000000.

I liked CB250RS too. I really wanted 250 when I was Uni student.
CB250RS was a father of CBX250 and GB250 clubman too!
I was reading riding expression of Yamaha SRX250 too at that time I remember. 250 single engine onroad were good bikes.

i rode a xelvis, not officially imported to the uk, lots of the cycle parts looked like CB500S, the motor was a peach, thrashed it mercilessly, it did go well for a 4T 250

250's aren't popular here as if you can ride one you can ride a 400/500/600 exactly the same, the only difference would be insurance cost.

I don't much like the styling, and 178kg is heavy.

It looks like a CB500 with a VTR250 lump shoehorned in. I suspect it was cheap to buy, or otherwise I suspect that is why they didn't sell very well.

What no cup holders.... No wonder it failed Laughing

My 650 Versys has a weight of 181KG
So that 250 is going to be well underpowered for a tourer. Imagine that 2 up with luggage and it will struggle on the long boring bits.

250's had there place in the upto 250 L group. Once that went then there is no advantage in them.
Might as well get a 600 and enjoy the more relaxed riding.

Oh and I only moved upto 600 after a long time on 250/350. Even when I came back 5 years ago I got a 250. Decided despite the lower weight that a 600 was more bang for buck and even cheaper to insure.....

Its CB500S fairing and tank actually, and they don't look like pushrod CG top ends to me. Wink
