I have a massive library of pictures. Most of them have 2 duplicates, I was hoping there is an easy way to delete them, they all have the same suffix, the ones I want to delete are suffixed -001.jpg and -002jpeg.

Is there anyway of easily deleting all the files that meet that criteria?

Cheers,

Chris

On Windows? Pretty sure Explorer find (Windows key + F) will let you search a directory tree for "-001.jpg" / "-002.jpg" then just select them all and delete.

On the console, I seem to recall the "for" command having options to search a hierarchy and operate on matching files (like "find -exec" on POSIX), but I don't have a system handy to check.

Eh, you were probably looking for a more complex solution, like "Install cygwin then run find . -iname "*-00?.jpg" -exec mv {} /var/tmp \;. Pfft, noob." Very Happy

search drive 'c' or wherever for all jpg's and then sort by date the original ones should be earlier leaving you to delete the newer copies of these

That would pull out any picture with 00 in the title though.

Well yeah, but you can then filter them manually or just do *001, then *002 etc.

the thing that i love about this topic is the fact that most people nowadays have no 'proper' computer knowledge. Everyone can use a GUI but no one seems the realise that computers became useful for repetitive processes, like this.
would wager that most people would have just deleted each individual file one by one by scrolling and deleting
