Mod 1 booked up, fingers crossed!

So I have finally had my DAS day 1 and Jesus I had a lot of fun, the 500 was so much different to the xr but somehow (this may have been my imagination) but it felt like it was easier to ride, especially the slow stuff, slalom, fig 8 and u-turn ect.
the instructor said that I was doing everything right and that he sees no reason not to get the mod 1 out of the way, the only thing I’m really worried about it the high speed swerve, in practice I was clocking about 54 on the gun and 59 for my e-stop but I’m hoping it will all come together on the day.

Riding the more powerful bike on the roads was a blast tho, we hit a dual carriageway (A33) and I got to open it up a bit for an overtake holy hell I reckon gunning it could get addictive lol.

Got home and spent a good half hour looking at eBay listings for R1's and GSXR 1000's before the little voice in my head piped up
"What are ya thinking ballbag?! These basterds will straight up murder you" so I went back to looking at hornets and bandits lol!

Its a bit of a let down getting off the 500 and going home on the 125 again. But great stuff you enjoyed day 1. The bike will feel more planted and easier to ride because of the extra weight. For some reason they feel more stable than the lighter bikes, even at low speeds.

Things like a GSXR1000 are much easier to ride than, for example, a 1200 Bandit. They have power, but they are also tiny and easy to chuck about. Whereas a large naked bike has a bit of life about it and you'll learn a lot more on something that isn't so forgiving.

Well, that's MHO, which admittedly doesn't count for much, especially on here, where nearly everyone gets all excited over stuff like R1s and ZX9Rs

To be honest I prefer the look of naked bikes, but having a taste of more power has me wanting more, I think that jumping off a Honda 500 and going balls out on a gsxr would be like jumping out of a civic and into a formula 1 car tho lol

The old GSXRs (late 80s, early 90s) were a bit of a handful. Newer stuff is mostly relatively tame. Sterile is a word I'd use. Well, that's how they feel to me, which is why I tend to ride hoary old beasts from back in the mists of time (and the fat Bandit ).

IMHO, the most dangerous thing about modern sporty bikes is that they don't feel as fast as they actually are. Maybe I'm just too old and set in my ways for modern stuff
