Hi guys,

I have a CCM 404DS which has a drz400 engine in it. I did a light service on it. (Changed oil, filter, cleaned air filter) and then I didn't ride it for a little while after (about 3 weeks). This was due to my stand breaking!!!!

So i took it out at the weekend and it now makes a whistling noise which lifts when the revs lift.

any ideas?

cheers,
Jesse

Sounds like air is moving quickly between 2 surfaces to me.

Unfortunately I can't tell exactly what you mean by whistling via the internet unless you made a video of yourself making the noise your bike makes or even better making a vid of the the bike making the whistling noise.

If it is a rubbing noise answer these.

What revs does it happen at?
Does it happen if you pull the clutch in?
Does it happen in neutral?
If you are doing low speed in a high gear does it happen?
High speed in low gear does it happen?

haha yeh i know, sorry i have no way of showing you the noise!

but i can say...

It happens at all revs however you can barely hear it over high revs. It does it from idle all the way up.

It doesn't matter if it's in or out of gear or whether the clutch is in our out.

I haven't tried the low gear high speed, but high gear low speed it still does.

It sounds like it's coming from the right hand side of the engine which is the same side as the cam chain, however it is also the same side as the oil filter, which is the only thing I've changed. But it doesn't look the oil filter spins or anyting.

I'm gonna go out and try and pin point which area that it's coming from.

cheers
